ubergrid: In a decent world, Davy Jones’ body would be laid in a bed and pushed through the streets to the cemetery by the surviving Monkees.

Billboards on Sunset →
Via the Mountain Goats twitter feed, a great set of photographs of the billboards on Sunset in 1974-75.

GIVE ME BANDS →
imathers: I see all of you, asking each other to list five favourite songs by ____ band! And I’m drunk! So at least some of you had better ask me the same thing, or I’ll be very sad. Let’s do this. Ian was drunk, I’m sober and slightly under the weather. I wouldn’t mind giving this a go though if anyone cares.

reverenddollars: “This is something that I feel like people in the gay media, period, don’t talk about. Teenagers harass gay people to an insane amount. Walking down the street, you know, they started taunting me, catcalling me, picking at me, just going crazy, you know, like little raptors. … So I busted down.” This is amazing. Thanks Rev!

totalvibration: Hey, remember when metal music videos weren’t sent to VH1 purgatory? Helms Alee does and recreates some of the more memorable late ‘80/early ’90s videos. This rules. This is amazing.

Rest In Peace, John Severin
The great John Severin, dead at the age of 90. Part of me imagined he would live forever; he seemed never to stop working, never to fall short. You could have a good life reading only stories that he worked on one way or another. Thanks John. Track down this issue and the one that followed. An amazing and exhaustive two-part interview that I think I’ll revisit this afternoon.

RIP, John Christopher
I’m surprisingly saddened by the news of John Christopher’s passing. The Tripods and The Swords of the Spirits trilogies were hugely important to my younger self. I’m glad he was never Capped.

The Complete(ly Awesome) Judas Priest
I was lucky enough to get this set in the mail yesterday, and I got a chance to listen to the finally remastered Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings Of Destiny. These are my thoughts, copied and pasted from elsewhere because I’m lazy. I’ve had a chance to listen to both Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings Of Destiny and, in my opinion, they are worth the price of admission alone. What surprised me was...

sad morning
I unfollowed someone I like who shared one of my favorite songs because the damn thing was a promoted post. So sorry, and please don’t take it personally, but seeing that shit on my dashboard with a big fucking tag and knowing actual money was spent for the right to stick a big fucking tag on it sticks in my craw.  I wish people believed that if someone follows them they actually read their...

On Musical Genres
I’ve decided to clarify my position regarding arguments about indie/dance/r’n’b/rock/metal/noise/classical/alternative/jazz/etc genre labels: I love and listen to music. Fuck you if you give two shits about codifying anything for any reason beyond your own personal use in itunes.
